It’s National Catfish Day and our mouths are watering! But it’s not the catfish that has us salivating… it’s the black garlic!
Blue apron’s website has easy-to-follow recipes, complete with simple images and great videos. When we saw they were using black garlic in their mayo recipe for their Katsu Catfish, well, we simply had to share!
Stirring black garlic into your condiments is probably the EASIEST way to use this delicious flavor-punch of an ingredient! Well, maybe sprinkling black garlic powder into your dry rubs is the easiest…. or tossing black garlic cloves on a salad… or spreading black garlic puree onto toast with a tomato and greens. Well, I guess it is ALL easy with black garlic!
Cooking doesn’t have to be complicated, and neither does enhancing the flavor of your food to make it instantly more delicious! Try it for yourself and you will soon be skipping the salt and reaching for black garlic! You can stir crushed cloves or puree into ketchup, honey, mayo, mustard, and more! This past weekend I sprinkled black garlic powder into my BBQ sauce and heard an angelic choir singing when I tasted it.
I wanted to share this recipe because it shows how uncomplicated the use of black garlic can be. Since you can do practically anything with these lovely, chewy cloves it isn’t hard to find a complex and time-consuming recipe to feature it. In this case, all you need is black garlic and a condiment (mayo, in this recipe).
If you are ready to combine catfish and black garlic, then this is the simplest way! Check out Blue Apron’s recipe for Katsu-Style Catfish with Black Garlic Mayo and Jasmine Rice - make some extra mayo because it will make a great dip for fries and wedges, or as a spread on toasted buns!
