Black Garlic Ranch: a recipe to try, or create your own amazing dip!

Earlier today I was reading an article in Birmingham Magazine Online titled, “Where to get Birmingham’s best chicken fingers,” and I came across a familiar ingredient: black garlic (See article for the tasty photo).

The article gives a brief summary of the chicken tenders offered by specific restaurants in Birmingham and McFly’s Bird Shoppe stood out to me for their black garlic ranch dressing that customers use as a dipping sauce for their chicken tenders. Yum!

As someone who works with black garlic (a lot) I know the power of this ingredient to elevate the flavor in just about any creation, both sweet and savory. I encourage you to experiment with black garlic by mixing ½ tsp to 1 TBSP of black garlic puree into your creations. Taste the difference in your cream cheese spreads, your sour cream dips, your mayonnaise salads, your homemade or store-bought hummus, and even your ranch dressing. You can take a sauce or dip from tired to tasty in mere seconds. Cooks, restaurants and companies are already mixing black garlic into their ketchup recipes, mayo recipes, mustard recipes, honey (yup, you read that right), and more. So, why not give it a try?

Though we don’t know the recipe for the black garlic ranch dip that McFly’s pairs with their undoubtedly incredible spicy chicken tenders, others online have been generous enough to share their black garlic ranch dressing recipes with the public, and one from The Rachel Ray Staff sounds particularly delicious, so the recipe link has been included below! Try it out and let us know what you think! Better yet - send us a pic and maybe we will show it to others on our social media accounts (with your permission, of course).

Happy Dipping! :)
